Frequently Asked Questions

Do I (or my child) really need therapy?

Not everyone benefits from therapy.  This depends on the nature of the problems that need to be addressed.  An initial phone consultation can help determine whether an in-person detailed consultation is warranted.

How do I talk to my child about therapy?

Many parents ask this very appropriate question.  The answer really depends on the age and developmental stage of your child.  For example, for a younger child, it often makes sense to compare going to a psychologist to going to their pediatrician.  The purpose of a pediatrician is to help keep your body healthy.  The purpose of a psychologist is to help your brain with any worries, stress, etc.  For older children and adolescents, the conversation is going to be a much more involved and often collaborative process.

Do you accept insurance?

Stepping Stones Psychological Services of Princeton, LLC does not currently accept insurance.  It is an out of network provider. Payment is due at the time of services, and clients are financially responsible for payment.  A receipt for services will be provided to you, and you may be able to submit this for reimbursement from your insurance company depending on your insurance contract.  It is strongly recommended that you contact your insurance company prior to receiving services so that you have a full understanding of your insurance plan's reimbursement policy and structure.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy.  However, if your child is sick, this is an excused cancellation, but please still call as soon as possible to cancel your session.
